Pepijn Zurburg is co-founder of the visual collective Gorilla, known for its long-running weekly image column in De Groene Amsterdammer. Through sharp, conceptual visuals, Gorilla offers a visual response to current affairs — blending graphic design, illustration, and commentary to spark reflection and debate.
As a regular image-maker for De Groene Amsterdammer, Pepijn explores how visual storytelling can deepen journalistic narratives and bring new perspectives to complex issues. His approach combines strong ideas with a clear visual language, developed over years of experience at the intersection of editorial, cultural, and social design.
Pepijn is also co-founder of design agency De Designpolitie and of What Design Can Do, where he leads on branding, strategy and visual communication. His work has received numerous international awards and is part of the permanent collections of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and MoMA New York.
Pepijn is a speaker at the workshop Inside the Editorial Room – Visual Storytelling in Journalism during the afternoon programme of WDCD Live on 6 June at Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam.
